A Chemical fire at Bellevue occurred in 2001. In 2006 a five year health review was undertaken. Very few members recall the advertising of the health check with only 2 career Firefighters participating.
Cancers do occur in Firefighters at a higher rate that the general population and in recent times too many members have contracted various cancers.
The records indicate 245 Career FRS employees attended Australia's worst Chemical Fire.
To ensure all members who attended the Chemical Fire know about the up coming 10 year health checks, the Union would like to compile a list of names, still working and retired, who attended and may have been exposed.
The Authority has refused to supply the names and has informed the Union we must go through FOI, again showing the commitments in the EBA for Effective Communication 9(1) " to be achieved through two way sharing of information" mean little.
All Members who attended please record your name and contact details below. If you know of a retired or resigned member please include their name for the union to contact.
Alternatively, you may contact the Union Office on 9228 8122 or if you have further details please email Admin at admin@ufuofwa.net.au
